Infinity: Morat Kurgat

So after some vacation time and some non painting time, I finally finished the Kurgat model I started some weeks ago, or well I've finished painting him, but I still haven't made any base for him. I can't quite decide if I should continue with the bases I have on my old miniatures, or if I should just start over with something totally different.

So for the time being he will remain baseless.

And here I have some pictures of him in his finished form

It's not even close to Ángel Giráldez quality, but I'm quite satisfied, and it was very fun to just take one miniature and paint that, and not have an entire army sitting in front of you.

I have now started a few Morat Vanguards as well, this is some quite new miniatures from the good folks over at Corvus, and they are amazing in sculpting quality. If you have any interest in Sci-fi miniatures you should most defiantly check them out.

Infinity Interlude

The last time I more or less looked at an Infinity miniature was over four years ago, but the other week I was looking though my stash of bits and bobs in miniature form for items to sell of, and I stumbled over my old miniatures that I never got around to unpacking one thing led to another and just a few days later I was reading a bit on this new version that Corvus Belli released about half a year ago.

So now I'm trying to figure out what has changed, how it worked at all and if I can build something with what I've got. I also got really inspired to just paint something, and put some work into a single miniature.
It has been quite some time since I spent more than about 15 minutes on a single miniature, and I can't remember the last time I only painted one miniature in the same batch.

I also got a new airbrush compressor, that might have something to do with that I started painting this...

Anyhow I only got about two hours of work into this first miniature, and since I'm leaving for vacation in a few hours, I'm not going to finish this one, but I took some pictures anyway.

So here is some WIP pictures of my Kurgat Assault Engineer

Then just for fun I took one with a few of the miniatures I painted about five years ago, as a comparison shot

Dropzone Commander: PHR - Walkers I

Got my first two walkers done, and I also updated my Nepune a bit and added some weathering as well.

The walkers have some magnets in them as well, so the arms can be changed when I get some more of them painted.

I have still to decide on how I'm going to differentiate between different squads and battle groups. I'll probably get some good idea when I have painted a few things, for the time being they will be anonymous.

First the weathered Neptune

Then my first walkers, here in Ares and Menchit configuration

Dropzone Commander: PHR - Neptune colour test

So after being to Salue I got inspired to get going on my Dropzone things again. Not only that but I acquired a substantial army from a club mate that wanted to slim his possessions a bit.

So I got a Neptune, put it together and loaded the airbrush and started painting. I'm not quite sure that I got all the details done quite as I want it, some small things might change. But in essence this is what my army will look like.

I wanted to keep it quite simple and do most of it with the airbrush, so that I can get a army ready for the table before I grow old and die.

The colour pallet is quite simple, and if there is interest I might to a little tutorial in how I paint these. Please write a comment if that is something you would like to see.

Until next time!

Salute 2015 I

So I got myself to Salute this year, this has been something I have tried to get to for the last 5 years or so, and this year it finally worked out.

I did this whole thing as a single day trip, so I started my "day" at just before 3AM in the morning to arrive just in time for the opening in London, 8 hours later (I had to cross a time zone as well).

This first post I will dedicate to the Hawk Wargames stand, they had a little stand with a gigantic space ship. This is the same ship that has travelled the world, but this time it was done!

The play pieces for the upcoming fleet game

And some closeups

Then there was some new minis on display for Dropzone Commander as well

And for its so awesome here is some more pictures of the big ship

As a little special for Salute they also had a few, I heard 50, play pieces of the Avenger Strike Carrier, and I manage to get hold of one of them.

That's what I have for now. I still have quite a few pictures but this was the main thing for me and my tripp. I'm just a little disappointed that I didn't get one of the show-only double decker buses, they sold out in less than 30 minutes...
